Men’s Basketball Unveils 2018-19 Non-Conference Schedule

Lions to host seven home games in November and December

LOS ANGELES – The 2018-19 Loyola Marymount men's basketball schedule is now complete and will feature 14 non-conference games prior to the start of the West Coast Conference matchups.
 
 
The Lions will open at home on Nov. 6 for the first look at the 2018-19 team. The Lions will host Westcliff University from Irvine in the season opener.
 
The first road test will be at UNLV on Nov. 10 to officially bookend the regular season in Las Vegas. The Conference Championship will bring LMU back to the Orleans Arena in March to determine the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
 
LMU will then return home to host new Cal State Northridge Head Coach Mark Gottfried and the Matadors on Nov. 13.
 
As announced, LMU will play in the second year of the Jamaica Classic, help in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The Lions match up in the fourth and final game of the day on Friday, Nov. 16 against Patrick Ewing's Georgetown Hoyas, before closing out their time on the Island Sunday, Nov. 18 against the Ohio Bobcats.
 
With the Lions being named one of the hosts of the Jamaica Classic, Gersten Pavilion will welcome two of the tournament participants, Central Connecticut State and Florida A&M, to play on-site in Los Angeles, on Nov. 21 and 24, respectively. LMU will make it three straight at home with Bethesda coming a week after Thanksgiving day on November 29.
 
A crosstown matchup in Westwood opens the month of December. The Lions and Bruins will square off at Pauley Pavilion on the campus of UCLA on Sunday, Dec. 2. The last time the two schools met, Anthony Ireland led the Lions to an opening-day win to kick off the Centennial Season of 2011-12. The Lions topped 17th-ranked UCLA, 69-58, in front of 5,382 fans on Nov. 11, 2011 at the LA Sports Arena.
 
Time away from the Bluff continues with trips to Cal State Fullerton on Dec. 5 and Portland State on Dec. 15, before LMU hosts Boise State on Dec. 19. The Broncos were a postseason NIT team a season ago.
 
The calendar year comes to a close with one final home game before WCC play and before 2019. UC Davis heads to Gersten Pavilion for an interstate showdown on Friday, Dec. 28.
 
The new 16-game conference schedule is completed as well, with the Lions opening the new year in the PCH Cup at Pepperdine. For all matchups and dates, click the link above.
