LOS ANGELES – In a heated battle that remained tied until the game's final minute, the Seattle University Redhawks (4-3) ultimately defeated the Loyola Marymount University Lions (1-6) 2-1, netting the game-winning goal at the 89:25 mark of the contest.

The first two goals of the match came early on, with the Redhawks striking first 12:18 into action as Declan McGlynn received a cross from the right side from teammate Sergio Rivas and secured the goal from the center of the box.

LMU quickly evened it up four minutes later at 16:44 as sophomore
Kris Fourcand put a penalty kick into the back-right corner of the net past SU keeper Josh Adachi for his first goal of the season.
The Lions and Redhawks remained scoreless for the rest of the first half and nearly the entire second half until Seattle scored at 89:25 to hand LMU the heartbreaking loss. Cody Gibson of SU put in the game-winning goal off the assist from Hal Uderitz.

LMU tallied 12 shots in the loss, with three on goal, as Adachi finished with two saves. SU had eight shots with five on goal as LMU goalie
Paul Lewis finished with three saves. The Lions edged the Redhawks in corner kicks, 5-4.

The Lions return to Sullivan Field on Thursday, Sept. 20 to face Cal State Northridge at 7 p.m. and also host Cal State Fullerton the following Thursday, Sept. 27, as part of a three-game homestretch.
