Los Angeles, CA (April 24) - Cal State San Bernardino used a 6-0 run to start the game to coast to an 11-3 win over UC Santa Cruz in game eight of the 2004 Western Water Polo Association Championships at Loyola Marymount University on Friday morning.
The Coyotes improve to 22-15 on the season and advance to face Cal State Hayward at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday. UC Santa Cruz falls to 5-27 on the year and will play in the ninth place game at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday against Sonoma State.
CSUSB was led by three players with hat-tricks, including Sarah Reneker, Erin Gallagher and Royce Rahn. The Coyotes score three goals in the first and the second to take a 6-0 lead into the lockerroom at the break.
UC Santa Cruz finally got on the scoreboard on a pair of goals by Emily Erskine. Megan Mendivil added a goal for the Slugs.
