ORLANDO, Fla. - Following a sensational junior season, Loyola Marymount's Riley Elmes has been selected as an at-large to compete in the 2018 NCAA Men's Golf Championships. The LMU junior will compete in the Stockton Regional hosted by University of the Pacific from May 14-16, 2018.
In total, six sites hosts 81 teams and 45 individuals. The Stockton Regional includes 13 teams and 10 individuals. Five teams and one individual will advance to the NCAA Championships in Stillwater, Okla.
Elmes recorded seven top-5 finishes in 11 tournaments this season, including a win at the 2017 Wyoming Southern Dunes Invitational and a runner-up finish at the Oregon Duck Invitational where he tied the program record with a three-round 203.
The junior lowered his stroke average to 71.36 in 2017-18, which currently ranks second all-time in a single season in program history.
LMU has boasted six appearances in individual NCAA Regionals. Brian Locke (2007, 2008) and Tyler Torano (2013, 2014) each earned bids twice, while Jason D'Amore (2008), Greg Moss (2009) and Connor Campbell (2015) each qualified for one regional as individuals. The 2006 Lions earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament as a team.
