LOS ANGELES â€" In the team's first day of WCC action this season, Loyola Marymount (18-21-1) split with the Pacific Tigers (11-22) 1-1, picking up a 2-0 win in Game 1 and falling 6-4 in Game 2.
Alicia Brown brought in the game's only two runs in the bottom of the second, scoring herself and Delanie Wisz (who previously hit a single to left field) on a double to right center. Hannah Bandimere earned the win on the mound for the Lions, as she moved to 13-9 on the season.
Pacific scored two early runs to kick off Game 2, as Molly Bourne singled up the middle in the first inning, bringing home two runs on the play. The Lions were unable to get on the board in the bottom of the first, and the next two innings were scoreless, before LMU took the a 3-2 lead in the fourth.
Molly Grumbo scored the first run for the Lions, making it home on a Brown groundout to the shortstop. Brooke Christensen secured the next two runs for LMU on a phenomenal inside the park home run to left center, scoring herself and Sabrina Tebou (who had previously singled to the shortstop) on the hit.
The Tigers quickly regained their lead in the top of the fifth, as Sydney Lahners singled up the middle for two RBI, bringing home Samantha Owen and Talli Shepherd, giving Pacific a 4-3 lead.
The Lions tied it up in the bottom of the sixth as Grumbo was driven home on a Tebou single to second base, but the Tigers scored two runs in the final inning to run away with the 6-4 victory.
Linnay Wilson pitched most of the game for LMU, racking up seven strikeouts in the outing, but Hannah Bandimere finished the game for the Lions, ultimately earning the loss and she now stands at 13-10 in 2018.
The Lions and Tigers return to Smith Field for the final game of the series between the two teams, with a 12 p.m. start time.
