Competing at UC Santa Barbara and the UCSB Classic over the weekend, LMU men's tennis saw
Ethan Prost win the consolation final in Flight C singles, highlighting play from a quartet of Lion players.
Prost dropped the opening match to Cal's Can Kaya, 6-4, 7-5, but rebounded nicely in the consolation portion of the bracket, topping Dariush Jalali (UC Davis), 6-3, 6-2. A win over Oregon's Evan Felcher (4-6, 6-2, 6-3) sent Prost into the final, where he defeated UC Davis' Arjith Jayaraman in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
Max Kaiser,
Ryan Brown and
Cartier Juan also competed in singles play over the weekend, with all three winning a match in their respective bracket.
In doubles play, Brown and Juan teamed in Flight B, and Kaiser and Prost paired in Flight C. Kaiser/Prost dropped the opening doubles match, but captured an 8-5 win over UC Davis' Scemanenco/Swanson to reach the consolation final of the Flight. There, the duo dropped an 8-7 (6) decision to Torosik/Smith (Washington).
LMU will now have a short break from action, returning to the courts on October 17 at the ITA Regional tournament.
