LOS ANGELES – Loyola Marymount women's soccer had eight corner kicks, but it was one San Francisco goal that was the difference in the score line. The Lions (3-8-4. 1-2-1 WCC) fell to USF (8-5-1, 1-1-1 WCC), 1-0, Sunday at Sullivan Field.
"It's your typical Sunday game, especially after a big energy Friday night game, the players come out tired," said Head Coach
Michelle Myers. "Credit to San Francisco for putting away what was probably their best chance of the day. For us, we had eight corner kicks, and you get to the end line, but we didn't get anything out of those opportunities."
The Dons scored in the 21
stminute off a cross to the box after an extended run down the field. Kalena Teufel converted the one-touch for the game's lone goal.
LMU came out firing in the second half, shooting all six of their shots after the intermission. Five of the eight Lion corner kicks came after halftime as well, whereas San Francisco finished with just one in the entire game.
Emily Carman led the Lions with three shots off the bench, half the team's total.
Charlee Pruitt made one save in her 90 minutes in net.
LMU will play just one game this next week, a home matchup with San Diego on Saturday night at 6 p.m.
The game will be LMU's Pride in Pink game. In support of the fight against breast cancer, all breast cancer survivors and those undergoing treatment are able to receive one (1) complimentary ticket to the game and up to four (4) discounted tickets for friends and family.
Pride in Pink hats and shakers will be given away to the first fans in attendance.
In addition, all fans who purchased a Dad and Daughter ticket package will be able to participate in a unique on field opportunity with the team. More information about the program is available
