LOS ANGELES – Loyola Marymount women's soccer fought back to force overtime, before San Diego scored a game-winner in the 109
thminute. The Lions (3-9-4, 1-3-1 WCC) wore pink shorts and socks in the match to raise awareness for breast cancer research.
After a scoreless first half, San Diego (5-7-1, 1-3 WCC) opened the scoring with a 51
stminute goal.
The Lions showed a response, with
Sarina Bolden blasting in a loose ball in the 72
ndminute to equalize. Bolden leads the team with five goals on the year, and her 17
thcareer goal now stands alone for fifth all-time in program history. Bolden finished with a game-high seven shots, and now is tied for seventh all-time in program history.
After each team was kept out of the net for the remainder of the second half and first overtime period, San Diego scored with just under a minute and half on the clock in the second overtime period. The game-winner came from a cross into the box and finished.
LMU outshot USD 16-8 in the game, but it was a three to one advantage for the Toreros in double-overtime that pushed them ahead.
The Lions travel to Pepperdine on Saturday for the lone game next week. The #PCHCup will kick off at 1 p.m. in Malibu. Pepperdine (8-6-1, 3-1-1 WCC) is coming off a 2-1 win over BYU.
