PORTLAND, Ore. –
Charlee Pruitt made eight saves, but it was Portland's one second half game that determined the outcome of the game. The Pilots (11-7-0, 3-3-0 WCC) earned the 1-0 win over Loyola Marymount (3-11-4, 1-4-1 WCC) on a wet night in the Rose City.
"It was very wet but it affected both teams equally," said Head Coach
Michelle Myers. "We had some chances including a scramble in front of the goal that their players cleared from the goal line but we couldn't put one away."
Pruitt made six first half saves to keep the game scoreless heading into intermission. In the 41
stminute, Pruitt made a highlight save on a hard shot fired in from Portland's Ellie Winkelmann.
Coming out of the locker room, Pruitt again was called into action early, making a reaction save in the 53
rdminute to get the Lions out of danger.
The Pilots did get on the board, with Jasmine Garibay scoring from 10 yards out to give Portland their lone goal. The score line held with LMU unable to find the back of the net after a dozen shots.
Sarina Bolden finished with a team-high five shots, with both Bolden and
Maki Kono placing two on frame.
The Lions will travel one state north for Sunday's 1 p.m. match. LMU and Gonzaga face off in Spokane for the penultimate game of the season, with Nov. 3's Senior Day match vs. BYU set to close out the 2018 schedule.
