LOS ANGELES – The LMU men's soccer team (5-9, 2-1 WCC) was defeated by No. 22 UCLA (9-4) on the road on Saturday night, 4-1. This marked the Bruins' fourth straight victory with the win at Wallis Anneberg Stadium.
The Bruins came out firing in the first half, taking an early 2-0 lead and dominating the run of play before LMU took advantage of a turnover in the defensive third to make it a one-goal game heading into the halftime break. The Lions' leading goal-scorer in 2018, Kris Fourcand, was the one to net LMU's lone goal off of the assist from teammate Ryan Bishop.
UCLA regained control of the match in the second half, potting another pair of goals to secure the 4-1 win. The Bruins outshot the Lions 17-4 on the night, including an 11-2 edge in shots on goal.
Lions' goalkeeper Paul Lewis tallied six saves on the night with the 17 shots by the Bruins including 11 on goal. Freshman Danny Garcia led LMU in shots on the night with two, including one on goal. Fourcand and Porreco had the other two shots for the Lions in the loss.
LMU will return home on Friday, Oct. 26 vs. Pacific for the team's first home game since Sept. 27.
