LAS VEGAS – Loyola Marymount men's basketball's James Batemon has been named to the Preseason All-WCC Team, the conference announced on Thursday at the annual tip-off event.
 
Batemon finished his first year with the Lions with both Second Team All-WCC and WCC All-Tournament Team accolades after leading LMU in both scoring (17.8 ppg) and assists (4.63 apg) in 2017-18, and finishing as the only player in the top five of both categories in the conference.
 
In addition to the Preseason All-Conference Team, the WCC also announced the Preseason Men's Basketball Coaches Poll.
 
Following the close to LMU's season, winning three of their final four games, and the return of 10 players, the coaches have picked the Lions to place seventh in the league.
 
Gonzaga earned nine first place votes to lead the way. Saint Mary's was picked to finish second, despite BYU picking up the remaining first place vote, the Cougars were tabbed to finish third.
 
Both the Coaches Poll and the Preseason All-WCC Team were selected by the conference's 10 head coaches.
