After the first day of the Lions Cup hosted at the Burns Aquatic Center, LMU comes out second in the DI scoring segment of the event, just behind Pepperdine. The Lions ended the day with a score of 109, to Pepperdine's 110 points.

The two other teams competing, Alaska and Dixie State, ended the day with 79 and 107 points, respectively.

The Lions began the day ahead, taking second place in the 200 medley relay, with a time of 1:50.83, just 0.18 seconds behind Alaska's dominating squad. The Waves' A relay finished fourth, with a time of 1:53.53.

The 500 freestyle was a fierce race for the Lions and the Waves, with both teams taking four of the top eight standings. The Waves took first, third, fourth, and seventh, with the Lions taking second (Lanna Kozlowski), fifth (Keara Reilly), sixth (Audrey Hixon) and eighth (Farah Stack).

LMU had two swimmers in the top eight of the 200 IM, with Abby Chop and Christine Chan taking second and third place, and four in the 50 Freestyle. Marley Abbott won the event, with Taylor Anderson taking third, Isabel Willis claiming fourth, and Caitlin Ryan grabbing the sixth-place slot.

LMU went in to the last relay behind by three points, and dominated the 800 Freestyle Relay, with the A team coming in at 8:00.97, but with the Waves taking second and third place, the Lions ended just one point shy of a victory.

The four teams will meet again on Saturday, with two sessions set to begin at 9:30 a.m. The second session is schedule for a noon start.
