SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Loyola Marymount rowing collected medals in all four of its events on Sunday to close out the Western Intercollegiate Racing Association Championships.
"We talk about challenging ourselves and embracing challenging situations and I thought the team did a nice job of doing that this weekend," said Head Coach Justin Price. "Our focus continues to be going our fastest at the WCC Championship in two weeks so we will go back home and challenge ourselves to see how much faster we can get."
The Lions opened the day with a third-place finish in the Women's Varsity 8 DI/Open Final. After Stanford won the event, the next three finishers were all within two seconds of each other. San Diego State crossed in 6:29.322, and LMU took third with a time of 6:31.132 after beating Sacramento State (6:32.772) to the finish line.
LMU's highest finish of the day came from the JV 8+ in the DI/Open Final. SDSU again took first with a 6:33.831, and the Lions crossed second with a 6:39.763 finish to take the silver and improve their time from Saturday by over 12 seconds.
The Men's 2 Final resulted in a bronze medal for the men's pair after the two freshmen finished in 7:16.693.
LMU closed out the event with another bronze, after taking third in the Women's Novice 4+ Final and posting a time of 7:42.080.
This marks the end of the men's competition schedule. The women return to Lake Natoma on May 13 for the West Coast Conference Championships.
