April 28, 2017 SANTA CLARA, Calif. - It was all Loyola Marymount in Friday's Golden Coast Conference Tournament opener. The Lions (14-14, 5-2 GCC) jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead and never looked back, topping California Baptist (17-13, 3-4 GCC), 12-2, on Friday.
Sage Pfeiffer joined First-Team All-GCC selection Hana Vilanova with four goals apiece to lead LMU past their opening round opponent and into the first semifinal game between the winner of second-seeded Pacific and seventh-seeded Fresno Pacific.
Caitlin Schafer and Morgan Molloy accounted for the remaining LMU goals, each scoring a pair.
After LMU took its 6-1 lead into the halftime locker room, the Lions scored the first six goals of the second half, including four-straight by Pfeifer.
Katie Hungerford accounted for a game-high three assists and goalkeeper Sky Flores made 11 saves in her 32 minutes in goal.
The semifinal matchup opponent will be determined on Friday, with the game scheduled for Saturday at noon.
