Santa Clara, Calif. - The Lions traveled to Santa Clara for the second weekend of WCC play. LMU took game one against the Broncos winning 1-0, but dropped the second game 1-0. After today LMU sits at 15-26 overall and 1-4 in WCC play.

LMU picked up their first WCC win of the season in game one against Santa Clara. Rachael Farrington threw her first shutout of the season, allowing only four hits and striking out four Broncos, Farrington is now 6-12 on the season.

Lindsey Matoi picked up her ninth RBI of the season and scored LMU's only run of the game. Matoi came to the plate in the top of the fourth with two outs and a runner on second. She was able to punch the ball right over the infield to center. Brooke Christensen, who had reached on a walk, and was put into scoring position by the sacrifice bunt from Sabrina Tebou, was able to come around and score from second making it a 1-0 ball game.

Three other Lions had a hit in the first game, Alex Finie had a base hit up the middle in the first. Brooke Christensen finished the game 1-2 with a walk, Lindsey Matoi picked up her hit in the 4th and Alicia Brown had the final Lions hit in the 5th.

Game two saw a different outcome as the Lions only had two hits against the Broncos. Amanda Dirks was responsible for the first hit which came with two outs in the first inning, and Alicia Brown added hers to lead off the 7th inning.

LMU takes the field again tomorrow for the final game of the series versus Santa Clara. First pitch is slated for 12pm.
