STOCKTON, Calif. - The Loyola Marymount women's water polo team was unable to upset Golden Coast Conference opponent Pacific on Friday afternoon. The #9 Pacific Tigers (13-7, 2-0) held the #21 Lions (9-13, 1-2) to just three goals to earn the 8-3 win.

Caitlin Schafer scored her first of two goals on a powerplay with four seconds remaining in the first quarter to cut the LMU deficit to 3-1. The Tigers jumped out to a 6-1 lead at the half with three unanswered goals in the second quarter, two of which were converted on powerplays.

Pacific was 2-for-4 on the day following exclusions, whereas the Lions only converted 1-of-7 goals with the advantage. LMU held the shots edge, 26-19.

The Lions scored the first two goals of the second half, with Schafer and Hana Vilanova finding the back of the cage in the third quarter.
