Los Angeles, Calif. - LMU (12-19) played the final two of a three game series today with Cal State Fullerton. In both games LMU fought but they were unable to come away with a win. LMU faced a setback in both games with scores of 9-5 and 3-0 respectively.
The Titians were first on the board in game one, but LMU was right behind them, tying the game at one by the 3rd. Amanda Dirks was able to get the first LMU base runner in the inning on a 2 out single to right. Alicia Brown was walked to bring Alex Finie to the plate. Finie got her first of many hits scoring Dirks and putting LMU on the board.
The Lions gave 4 runs in the fourth, but just like earlier in the game they came back to tie it. In the bottom of the 4th LMU loaded the bases with 2 outs. Capitalizing on an error and a walk LMU was able to push two across bringing up Finie. In a clutch, bases loaded moment, Finie got an up the middle base hit scoring the third run of the inning. The tying run would score when the Lions once again capitalized on a defensive error.
Finie finished game one 4-for-5 and 2 RBIs, Brown also had a multi-hit game going 2-for-3.
In the final game against Cal State Fullerton, LMU recorded only 3 hits, two of which came from Irma Sanchez.
LMU is on the road next at Long Beach State for a doubleheader on Tuesday.
