LOS ANGELES -- The Gold Coast Conference has named Loyola Marymount's Hana Vilanova Co-Player of the Week Thursday. The LMU sophomore scored a team-high 10 goals this weekend in the 16th Annual LMU Invitational to help guide the Lions to a 3-1 record at the tournament.
Scoring in every game over the weekend, Vilanova's highlight was her six-goal performance in the win over Whittier. The Spaniard set her new career-high mark in goals and tied her previous best with seven points, while converting 65 percent of her shots. Her performance over the weekend moved her into the conference's season top-10 list for both goals and points.
Vilanova was named All-GCC honorable mention and GCC All-Freshman in her first season. Sharing this week's award is San Diego State senior Caroline Israels, who led her team to a 3-1 record with her 11 goals and six assists.
The Lions and Aztecs meet Saturday at noon at Burns Aquatics Center, with LMU hosting Fresno Pacific the day before.
