NCAA GSR Release/Searchable Database

LMU continued to post strong GSR numbers in the latest announcement from the NCAA on Wednesday, boasting an overall mark of 92 - just one point lower than last year's record of 93.

This year marks the fifth straight time in the 13-year history of the metric that LMU has reached or exceeded 90 percent, and the ninth straight year the campus has posted a mark of 88 percent or higher.

GSR data indicates the number of student-athletes earning a degree within six years. The NCAA developed the GSR to more accurately assess the academic success of student-athletes. The Graduation Success Rate includes transfer students and student-athletes who leave in good academic standing, unlike the federal rate, which does not count transfers. The GSR also accounts for mid-year enrollees and is calculated for every sport.

The most recent Graduation Success Rates are based on the four entering freshmen classes in Division I from 2007 through 2010.

Overall, LMU's GSR rate of 92 percent is five percent better than the NCAA average of 87 percent â€" the highest NCAA average since the GSR was created. In this most recent data, all but one team at LMU earned GSRs at or above 80 percent, including 11 with marks of 90 percent or better.

Seven LMU teams registered perfect 100 GSR marks, including men's golf, men's soccer, men's and women's water polo, women's swimming, women's tennis and women's cross country and track. The perfect score is the sixth straight for women's water polo, the fourth straight for women's tennis, the third straight for men's water polo and swimming, and the second straight for golf and women's cross country and track.

In addition to those perfect GSR programs, men's basketball, men's cross country and track, men's tennis, and women's soccer all equaled or improved their GSR score from the previous year.

Of the 24 Division I schools in California, LMU's rate of 92 percent is second overall behind Stanford at 97. The West Coast Conference shows well in the GSR standings, as the Lions are one of six member schools that are at or above 90 percent.
