From the Athletic Director's Desk
 

As we transition from a record-breaking spring to summer, I want to recap our spring season and provide an important update on LMU Athletics, particularly the House Settlement's impact on college athletics and LMU.  This May, our beach volleyball program won its sixth consecutive WCC title, secured the fourth seed in the national tournament, and advanced to the national championship match after defeating four-time champion USC and the #1 seed, UCLA, on the same day. The Lions fell to TCU 3-2 in the championship, becoming only the second team to compete in a national championship game (women's water polo 2004). Head Coach John Mayer received the National Coach of the Year award, the first time an LMU coach has earned this honor. Our women's water polo team had a second consecutive undefeated season in the Golden Coast Conference, winning the tournament and earning a NCAA tournament berth for the first time since 2012. Coach Ikaika Aki, in his third season, has restored prominence to the women's water polo program.   We are finalizing our Annual Report, highlighting another great year, to be available this summer. With the 2025-26 season approaching, we enter a new era of college athletics due to the landmark House Settlement.
