Hosting the inaugural LMU Invite at the LMU Tennis Center this weekend, LMU men's tennis played well on day one against opponents from San Diego State and Nevada.

The three-day tournament, which features matches played in a round-robin format, also includes players from Pepperdine.

The Lions posted four singles victories on Friday, with Gabriel Diaz Freire, Lucas Moreno, Lukas Moenter and Charles Boyce each capturing a win. Diaz Freire defeated Arnaud Restifo (San Diego State) by scores of 6-4, 6-4, while Moreno posted a 6-3, 7-5 win over SDSU's Sander Gjoels-Andersen. Moenter dispatched San Diego State's Ignacio Martinez, 6-2, 6-2, while Boyce defeated Joel Popov, 6-2, 7-6.

On the doubles side, two LMU pairs managed a victory, with Ethan Prost and Moreno combining to defeat Popov/Martinez (SDSU), 8-3. Diaz Freire was paired with Moenter, and the duo knocked off Peter O'Donovan/Robert Margitfalvi (Nevada), 7-6.

Action will continue from the LMU Tennis Center on Saturday as LMU is slated to play doubles against San Diego State and singles against Pepperdine.
