Final Stats

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Despite a career-high 26 points from Jackie Johnson, Gonzaga toppled the LMU women's basketball team, 80-56, Thursday night at Gersten Pavilion.

Johnson provided the bulk of LMU's offense, notching a new career-high on 11-of-15 shooting and also set a new mark with six blocks. The senior also hauled down a team-high seven rebounds. Andee Velasco and Cheyanne Wallace each netted six points apiece, while NK Ilang had a solid performance off the bench with five points and four rebounds.

Gonzaga's Jill Barta scorched the Lions for 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting, including a 4-for-5 clip from deep. The Bulldogs shot 56.9 percent (33-of-58) from the floor and 55.6 percent (10-of-18) from deep for the game.

GAMEDAY STORYLINES

• Gonzaga ended the first quarter with a 19-6 run, led by eight straight points from Barta to close the opening frame with a 25-12 grip on the scoreboard.

• The Zags once again held the Lions to 12 points in the second frame, while scoring nine points off Lion turnovers, furthering its total to 20 total for the half, to take a 49-24 command at the break.

• Johnson carried the load for the Lions in the first half, scoring 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting and swatted three shots.

• Gonzaga shot a blistering 70.0 percent (7-for-10) from deep and 66.7 percent (20-for-30) from the floor in the first half, while LMU hit on just 33.3 percent (10-for-30) and was 0-for-4 from 3-point range.

• The Lions played evenly in the third quarter, while the Zags cooled off from deep, connecting on just a 25.0 percent clip (1-of-4) to hold a 67-38 advantage heading into the final 10 minutes.

• LMU outscored Gonzaga, 18-13, in the final frame as Johnson polished off her night with eight points in the fourth.
