LOS ANGELES - Alicia Brown broke the LMU softball single-season doubles record and the Lions split a West Coast Conference doubleheader with Pacific Thursday afternoon at Smith Field.

LMU (31-21, 9-5 WCC) dropped the first game, 10-6, but came back in the nightcap to claim a 3-2 victory over the visiting Tigers (20-27, 3-11 WCC).

Brown was one of five Lions to account for seven total doubles on the day. The sophomore third baseman had one in each game while Stephanie Crist had two in the opener and Stephanie Maciel, Hannah Montalban and Alex Finie each added one.

With the Lions having long since crushed the program's previous single-season team doubles record, and currently ranked first among all NCAA Division I programs in doubles per game, Brown added single-season individual LMU record to the list with her 19th two-bagger of the season. She achieved the feat in her first at-bat of game two, beginning a two-run second inning. The previous record of 18 was set by Darcy Pagnini in 2008.

After taking the 2-0 lead, LMU added a third run in the third on a Finie RBI-single. Pacific would rally for two runs in the fifth, but Hannah Bandimere kept the Tigers mostly in check for her 18th win and 11th complete game of the year. The rookie finished with six strikeouts to go along with just one earned run allowed.

A seven-run top of the first for the Tigers was too deep of a hole to dig out of for the Lions in game one. The visitors tagged LMU starter Rachael Farrington for two runs on three hits before recording an out. Hoping to contain the damage quickly, Head Coach Sami Strinz-Ward made a quick change to Andy Wellins.

But the rally continued as the Tigers plated five more runs. Stephanie Crist would enter the circle with two outs and finally end the bleeding, recording the final out on her first batter faced.

The Lions found their way at the plate in the third, making it 7-3 on a Meghan von Behren home run and back-to-back RBI double by Crist and Alicia Brown. But LMU would get no closer as the teams would go on to trade single runs back and forth in the fifth, sixth and seventh.

LMU finished with 11 hits, including five doubles, while Pacific had 15 total hits. Farrington (13-9) took the loss while Pacific starter Marissa Young improved to 9-8.

The Lions and Tigers wrap up their WCC series Friday with a single game set for noon at Smith Field. A brief ceremony honoring the Lions' seven-member senior class with precede the game's first pitch.
