The LMU beach volleyball team (1-2) opened the 2016 season this weekend, splitting a pair of matches on Friday before dropping a road match at Arizona on Saturday. All three matches were played at Arizona's Sand Volleyball Courts.
The Lions, ranked #14 in the nation according to DiG Magazine, dropped a 3-2 decision to Cal before defeating Cal Poly, 4-1. Playing against #9 Arizona on Saturday, LMU was shut out, 5-0.
Senior Avery Bush, playing at the #1 spot, went 2-1 on the week, posting victories over Cal and Cal Poly. She teamed with Rachelle Suaava against the Golden Bears before partnering with Sascha Dominique in the victory over Cal Poly.
The Lions will return to action on Thursday when they travel to USC for a neutral-site match against Arizona State. LMU will then play Florida State and USC on Friday.
