Feb. 15, 2016 Box Score
Playing against another ranked-opponent on Sunday, the LMU men's tennis team (0-4) dropped a 6-1 decision to #58 Cal Poly (3-4) at home from the LMU Tennis Center. All four of LMU's losses this year have come against ranked foes.
Joat Farah and Errol Smith played extremely well in doubles to start the match on court two, dispatching Garrett Auproux and Tim Tan, 6-1. The Lions hung tough on courts one and three, but ultimately succumb to setbacks after Corey Pang and Ben Donovan got by Charles Boyce and Cristobal Rivera, 7-5, on court one, and Karl Enander and Dan Cardiff bested LMU's Lukas Moenter and Luke Bohuslav in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (8) on court three.
As they have done virtually all season, LMU played tough in singles play, but just couldn't get over the hump. The Lions' lone victory came on court six where Farah defeated Rafael Lenhard in a three-set match, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1. Boyce, playing at #1 singles, pushed Ben Donovan to three sets in his match, but after taking the first set, 6-3, he dropped the second and third, 6-4, 6-3, respectively. It was a similar story for Smith on court two, as the sophomore split the first two sets before dropping the third to Auproux, 6-4.
LMU will look to get on track on February 20 when it visits Las Vegas, Nev. for a neutral site match against Hawaii. The Lions will then battle UNLV on February 21.
