Hosting UC Davis in the first home swim meet of the year, LMU swimming suffered a 146.5-109.5 setback on Friday afternoon from the Burns Aquatic Center. Senior Hannah Calton won a pair of races, while freshmen Lanna Kozlowski and Alyce-Faye Eichelberger each claimed one victory.
Calton won both of the butterfly events, first taking top honors in the 200 fly with a time of 2:06.47. She returned to the water in the 100 fly, edging UC Davis' Cora McClelland with a time of 57.00. Calton then swam in the final individual event of the afternoon, turning in the third-best time in the 200 IM with a mark of 2:11.36.
Kozlowski earned her first-place finish in the 500 freestyle, registering a mark of 5:15.44. The Lions also placed a second-place finisher in that race, as Stacy Maier touched the wall at 5:18.90. Kozlowski's day began with the first individual event, the 1000 freestyle, where she took second with a time of 10:46.13. The Lions also claimed third in that race as Keara Reilly posted a time of 10:52.83.
Eichelberger continued a solid start to her freshman campaign on Friday, winning the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.55 before cruising into second place in the 200 backstroke with a mark of 2:10.49.
Freshman Taylor Anderson turned in a pair of third-place finishes, earning that spot in the 100 backstroke (1:00.00) and the 100 freestyle (55.64).
The Lions will return to the pool on October 28 when they compete against Grand Canyon and Seattle University in Seattle, Wash.
