LOS ANGELES - LMU Men's Basketball Head Coach Mike Dunlap announced that Brandon Brown (Laveen, AZ), Jeffery McClendon (Lancaster, CA), and Shamar Johnson (Pensacola, FL), Munis Tutu (Winsdor, Canada) have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Lions' program in the fall of 2015.

Brown and Johnson join the Lions after leading teams on successful postseason runs at the junior college level while McClendon and Tutu helped their respective high school teams play in the postseason. The four join Adom Jacko, who is from Chaffey College and signed in November, to form the incoming 2015 class.

"We are very excited for our incoming class," said Dunlap, who just finished his first season at the helm of the Lions. "This incoming class has won at many levels within the sport of basketball and come from successful programs while learning from very good coaches. This is a good step forward for our program."

Brown became one of the top junior college players in the nation the last two seasons, setting the all-time school record for scoring at Phoenix College in Arizona. He finished his two-year career with 1,603 points, leading the team to the NJCAA Division II National Championship as a freshman in 2014 and a third place finish this past March.

"Brandon became one of the best players in all of junior college basketball," said Dunlap. "He comes from winning programs and he really took off under coach Matt Gordon at Phoenix College. He is a very mature player and he makes anyone around him better."

Brown was a two-time NJCAA All-American, earning Player of the Year honors in 2015, leading the nation in points and ranking third in assists. As a freshman, he he led the Bears to its first national title, earning MVP honors in the national tournament. He was seventh nationally in scoring and fourth in assists that season.

He graduated from Cesar Chavez High School, leading his team to the state championship game while averaging 22.7 points, 4.2 assists and 4.5 steals his final season.

Also coming from the junior college ranks is Johnson. He led Pensacola State College to back-to-back Junior College Tournament appearances for the first time in 21 years. He was named first-team All-Panhandle Conference, one of the top junior college conferences in the nation.

"Shamar has great size and great hands," said Dunlap. "He really learned how to use that size and became a better player under head coach Pete Pena and assistant coach Joey Murdoch at Pensacola. He plays a real physical game and night-in and night-out he would carry his team in arguably one of the top conferences in the country."

Johnson was the team's second-leading scorer and rebounder, earning all-conference honors from the Florida media. He went to Pine Forest High School and led them to the Class 6A title game as a senior. The 6-6, 250-pound forward was the two-time Pensacola News Journal Player of the Year (2012, 2013) and originally signed to play football at Louisville before committing to the sport of basketball.

As for McClendon, he is a California high school product that averaged 25 points, seven rebounds and five assists as a senior at Eastside High School this past season. The performance earned him on the nomination list for the 2015 McDonald's All-American games this past March.

"Jeffery has a college-ready body and became one of the best on-ball defenders in the state this season," said Dunlap. "He has had the opportunity to learn from some of the best coaches in the state, including Eastside Head Coach Jesse Parker and on the club level with Ryan Silver's Earl Watson Elite team."

McClendon led Pasadena High School to a pair of conference championships as a freshman and sophomore. Family relocations had him play for Quartz Hill High School as a junior, helping the team to a share of the league title after averaging 11.8 points per game. He then moved to Lancaster and finished at Eastside High School, earn all-conference honors as a senior.

Rounding out the signing class of 2015 is Tutu, a native in Windsor, Canada who played this past summer for the Canadian National Team at the U18 FIBA Americas Championships. Tutu was the team's starting point guard and he has played the last two seasons at La Lumiere School in LaPorte, Ind. His final two seasons at La Lumiere, he helped one of the nation's top programs compete for national titles while earning top-10 rankings nationally.

"Munis is one of the top point guards in this year's class and he has had a chance to play for some of the best in national team coach Roy Rana with the Canadian program and at La Lumiere for Head Coach Shane Heirman and assistant coach Brad Jonstin," said Dunlap. "He has a very high basketball IQ and brings great energy every time he is on the floor."

Tutu is a native of Egypt, moving to Canada at nine-months. He went on to star at J.L. Forster High School in Windsor. He helped the team to a 20-1 record and the city all-star game as a freshman and then made a name for himself by averaging 24 points with seven assists as a sophomore. He then transferred to La Lumiere, becoming a Cum Laude Honor Roll student.
