The West Coast Conference announced the results of the annual men's tennis preseason poll on Friday, as the Lions are picked to finish sixth. The poll was voted on by the league coaches and ranks the ten-team field and top six players to start the campaign.

The University of San Diego men's tennis team was selected to win the upcoming 2015 West Coast Conference title. The reigning WCC Champion Toreros collected all nine first place votes as conference policy prohibits coaches from casting a vote for their own team. San Diego amassed 81 overall points as the favorite in the preseason poll. Last season, the Toreros snapped a three-year drought to earn their second West Coast Conference Championship title since 2011. San Diego defeated Pepperdine, 4-1 en route to its third title (1989, 1990, 2011). The Toreros places two on the six-member preseason team with junior Uros Petronijevic and sophomore Filip Vittek and are ranked #82 and #83, respectively in the ITA Singles Rankings.

Pepperdine was chosen second, collecting one first place vote and 71 overall points. The Waves will count on Kento Tamaki-Tanaka and Rakshay Thakkar senior leadership to guide a roster that includes six freshmen and four sophomores. In the last 11 seasons, the Waves have won the WCC crown 10 times dating back to 2003-10, 2012-2013.

Santa Clara University was tabbed third in preseason balloting with 60 points, and is represented on the all-conference team by junior Ashot Khacharyan.

Three points separate University of Pacific (49) and Brigham Young (46), which were selected fourth and fifth, respectively. The Tigers junior Sem Verbeek land on the preseason team and will look to another successful season in the No. 1 singles flight and No. 2 doubles position for Pacific.

Meanwhile, Loyola Marymount (41), San Francisco (39), and Portland (37), along with Gonzaga (14), and Saint Mary's round out the ten-team field at slots 6-10. Dons senior Bernardo Saraiva and the Bulldogs Alvaro Nazal were also named to the All-WCC Team.

The 2015 WCC Men's Tennis Championship will take place at Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif. April 22-25.
