Dec. 21, 2015 LOS ANGELES - - Senior Milutin Mitrovic closes a record-setting career for the LMU men's water polo program, and he does so with his third All-American honor.
Mitrovic was named Honorable Mention All-American by the American Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Association, who announced the 2015 All-Americans on Dec. 18. Mitrovic led the Lions in 2015 with 50 goals, adding 39 assists and 24 steals.
Mitrovic was an All-American in 2012, 2013 and now 2015. He is the sixth Lion to earn at least three All-American honors in a career, joining Edgaras Asajavicius (2009, '10, '11), Tibor Forai (2007, '08, '09, '10), Andy Stevens (2007, '08, '09, '10), Endre Rex-Kiss (2003, '04, '05) and Kevin Witt (2000, '01, '02).
The honor closes a record-book season for the Serbia native. He finishes his career with 226 goals, 130 assists and 103 steals. All three numbers among the best in program history, and in the case of assists, the best.
Mitrovic's 39 assists this season is tied for sixth for the most in a single season, equalling the 39 he had as a sophomore in 2013. The total this season pushed him past the century mark, only the third player to do so in program history. His 130 finishes as the best ever.
In addition, he is just the fifth player to crack 200 goals in a career, and his 226 is ranked third all-time in program history. He finishes behind Ryan Eisberg (304) and Rex-Kiss (261). His 72 as a freshman ranked ninth all-time in a single season.
He also finished in the top-10 in steals, cracking the century mark there too. He finishes with 103 the rank 10th.
