Jan. 25, 2015 Box Score
The LMU men's tennis team (1-2) posted a sweep of Grand Canyon (0-2) on Sunday at the LMU Tennis Center, earning its first win of the spring season by a count of 7-0. Although the match score showed a one-sided affair, Grand Canyon did force LMU into three sets on four of the six singles courts.
LMU had little trouble in the doubles events, as Adam Zaorski and Othar Kordsachia defeated Chazeau/Ounanian, 6-3, on court three to get the day going. Top doubles pair, Errol Smith and Todd Volmari, followed with a 6-3 victory of their own over Kuehnen/Legarreta to earn the doubles point, before Charles Boyce and Cristobal Rivera bested Roggenkamp/Schueller by a count of 6-2 to sweep doubles.
Freshmen Smith and Alex Bourgeois recorded straight-set victories playing on courts one and five, respectively, as Smith is now 2-0 at #1 singles and Bourgeois improves to 3-0 on the year. Needing one more singles victory to ensure the team win, Boyce finished off Legarreta on court two by scores of 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 to put LMU into the win column. Felix Van Kann (court three), Rivera (court four) and Luke Bohuslav (court six) also recorded victories for the Lions.
LMU will return to action on Saturday, January 31 when it welcomes Sacramento State to campus for a match at 11 a.m.
