Lions Fall at Pepperdine, 4-1

The LMU women's sand volleyball team (1-5) dropped a decision to Pepperdine on Thursday by a count of 4-1. Betsi Metter and Litara Keil proved to be the highlight for LMU, defeating a pair from Pepperdine on court 1.

Metter and Keil bested Kelley Larsen and Kellie Woolever, 13-21, 21-18, 15-12 in a close match. Rachelle Suaava and Taylor Akana played the Waves tough at No. 3, forcing a third and decisive set before eventually dropping the contest, 21-19, 19-21, 15-8. The duo of Caitlin DeWitt and Hannah Tedrow also forced three sets against Emily Cook and Katie Messing on court 4, falling by scores of 21-17, 20-22, 15-8.

LMU will host its first-ever sand volleyball matches on Wednesday, welcoming Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge to Dockweiler Beach Tower 42. The action begins at 1 pm and is open to the public.
