PROVO, Utah - In a showdown of the top two teams in the Pacific Coast Softball Conference Standings, the LMU softball team belted out four home runs on its way to 8-2 and 5-0 victories over BYU at Gail Miller Field Friday in Provo.

The doubleheader sweep makes it six in a row now for the Lions who improve to 27-18 overall and 10-4 in PCSC play. The Cougars fall to 17-22 overall and 6-4 in the PCSC.

Home runs accounted for nine of the Lions' 13 runs on the day as Meghan Harman and Nicole Clowdus each hit one in game one while Sterling Shuster and Skylar Segura launched one each in the nightcap.

Harman hit her team-leading seventh long ball in the top of the first inning of game one, also sending Hannah Montalban across home plate for a quick 2-0 lead. BYU plated one run in the home half of the inning when Clayton led off with a walk and later scored on a Bravo ground out to second.

Clowdus made it 4-1 in the second with a two-run shot to left that also scored Olivia Alvarez. Both teams scored once in the fourth before LMU put the game away with a three-run seventh courtesy a Sam Nelson bases loaded walk and an Alvarez two-RBI single.

Fresh off her third PCSC Pitcher of the Week honor, Sydney Gouveia (14-2) tossed her fifth one-hitter of the season. The freshman fanned eight, walked one and surrendered one solo home run.

Dana Waldusky (8-14) tossed game two for the Lions, carrying a no-hitter into the fifth inning before Tauali'i broke things up with a one-out single. Robb loaded the bases with a single to left, but Waldusky worked out of the jam by getting Davis to foul out to first and Clayton to strike out swinging.

The senior hurler allowed just one batter to reach base after that, finishing with seven strikeouts to go along with two walks in the complete-game shutout.

Shuster's three-run blast in the top of the first was all the scoring the Lions would need in the game. Segura added her two-run shot in the sixth to give LMU the five-run cushion.

The Lions and Cougars will conclude their four-game series Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. Pacific. The doubleheader matchup will be broadcast live on BYUtv (DirectTV Channel 374 and Dish Channel 9403) and webstreamed at BYUtv.org.
