LOS ANGELES - Wrapping up their final non-conference road match on Thursday, the Lions return home to Gersten Pavilion, opening a three-game homestand on Saturday, Dec. 7 by hosting Northern Arizona. Tip off is scheduled for 2 p.m.

INSIDE THE LIONS
Hazel Ramirez has scored in double-figures in six of LMU's first eight games this season, leading the team with 12.6 ppg. The senior point guard tallied her first 20-plus point game of the year with a 22-point effort at Long Beach State on Nov. 23. That was just three shy of her career high of 25 set last season at San Diego. Five different players have led the scoring column in a game, including Ramirez, Emily Ben-Jumbo, Deanna Johnson, Chelsea Barnes and Sophie Taylor. Barnes' team-high 16 points versus Oregon State on Nov. 21 also matched her career high, set at Wyoming on Dec. 29, 2012. Taylor also achieved a career-high with 16 points, all in the second half, against UC Irvine on Nov. 29. Taylor Anderson and Mackenzie Kerins have each achieved double-double status. Anderson's 10-point, 10-rebound effort at Utah State was a career first for the junior. Kerins has two double-doubles on the year, including a 10-point, 11-rebound effort Thursday at Colorado State, bringing her career double-double total to eight. With 35 assists through eight games, Ramirez brings her career total to 321, which is good for sixth in LMU's all-time record book. Next in line is Kate Murray (1999-04) with 329.
LIONS LAST LINE
In by far the best all-around effort of the season, an incredible effort on the road came up less than a 10th of a second short as a Deanna Johnson runner in the lane at the buzzer was determined just late and the Lions fell, 70-68, to Colorado State Thursday. The Lions hit a season-best 49 percent from the field to go along with 35 percent from three and 75 percent from the free-throw line. Five players reached double figures, led by Hazel Ramirez with 13. Leslie Lopez-Wood came off the bench to score 12 points, Sophie Taylor had 12 and Johnson and Mackenzie Kerins each chipped in 10. Kerins also added a game-high 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the year. Looking to go the length of the court and trailing by two, Johnson took the inbounds pass and went coast-to-coast, hitting a left-handed runner as the clock expired. After a lengthy review by the officials, the shot was deemed to leave Johnson's hands after the buzzer.
GETTING HOT FROM THREE
Leslie Lopez-Wood is starting to catch fire from beyond the arc. After hitting just 4-for-19 (21 percent) from three in the Lions' first four games, the freshman, who once hit 10 threes in a game during her final prep season, has gone 9-for-18 (50 percent) from long range in the last four games. She nailed 4-of-7 triples for a career-high 12 points at Long Beach State on Nov. 23, then matched that effort on Thursday at Colorado State with another 4-for-7 performance. Lopez-Wood now leads the team with 13 threes on the season.
ABOUT THE NORTHERN ARIZONA LUMBERJACKS
Northern Arizona has evened its season record to 2-2 following a 79-56 win at UC Santa Barbara on Thursday night. Five players reached double figures, led by Erikka Banks' 23-point, 13-rebound double-double. She was 9-of-11 from the field as the Lumberjacks hit nearly 57 percent from the field for the balance of the game. Brittani Lusain also collected a double-double with 12 points and 13 assists. NAU opened the year with losses to Hawaii and UTEP before picking up its first win, 80-66, at Utah Valley. Amanda Frost leads the team with 19.5 ppg followed by Banks at 13.5 ppg.
