LOS ANGELES - With fall semester finals officially in the books, the LMU women's basketball team continues a three-game home stand on Saturday, Dec. 14, hosting UNLV in a 2 p.m. tilt in Gersten Pavilion.

LIONS LAST LINE
The Lions earned a huge 79-58 win over Northern Arizona on Saturday, Dec. 7, snapping a five-game skid and showing a much improved team effort for the second straight game. Building on the confidence and play from their performance at Colorado State, the Lions used an 11-0 run early in the second half to break open a 29-29 halftime tie. LMU hit nearly 52 percent from the field in the half, leading by as many as 22, 68-46. Hazel Ramirez finished one assist shy of a double-double, leading the Lions with 18 points and nine helpers. Deanna Johnson added 16 points off the bench, Leslie Lopez-Wood chipped in nine points on three treys and Mackenzie Kerins pulled down a game-high 12 boards.
INSIDE THE LIONS
Hazel Ramirez has scored in double-figures in seven of LMU's nine games this season, leading the team with 13.2 ppg. The senior point guard tallied her first 20-plus point game of the year with a 22-point effort at Long Beach State on Nov. 23. That was just three shy of her career high of 25 set last season at San Diego. Five different players have led the scoring column in a game, including Ramirez, Emily Ben-Jumbo, Deanna Johnson, Chelsea Barnes and Sophie Taylor. Barnes' team-high 16 points versus Oregon State on Nov. 21 also matched her career high, set at Wyoming on Dec. 29, 2012. Taylor also achieved a career-high with 16 points, all in the second half, against UC Irvine on Nov. 29. Taylor Anderson and Mackenzie Kerins have each achieved double-double status. Anderson's 10-point, 10-rebound effort at Utah State was a career first for the junior. Kerins has two double-doubles on the year, including a 10-point, 11-rebound effort Thursday at Colorado State, bringing her career double-double total to eight. With 44 assists through eight games, Ramirez brings her career total to 330, moving her into fifth place in LMU's all-time record book. Next in line is Amanda DeCloud (2005-08) with 349.
GETTING HOT FROM THREE
Leslie Lopez-Wood is starting to catch fire from beyond the arc. After hitting just 4-for-19 (21 percent) from three in the Lions' first four games, the freshman, who once hit 10 threes in a game during her final prep season, has gone 12-for-25 (48 percent) from long range in the last five games. She nailed 4-of-7 triples for a career-high 12 points at Long Beach State on Nov. 23, then matched that effort on Thursday at Colorado State with another 4-for-7 performance. Lopez-Wood now leads the team with 16 threes on the season.
ABOUT THE UNLV REBELS
UNLV enters the week with a 2-6 record, including a current four-game skid. The Rebels won their season opener against Santa Clara while their second win came against Cal State Bakersfield on Nov. 23. LMU will be the fourth WCC opponent the Rebels have faced. The list so far includes SCU, BYU and San Francisco. Four players average double figures, led by Alana Cesarz' 13.3 ppg. Danielle Miller averages 11.6 ppg while Rejane Verin and Mia Bell chip in 10.1 and 10.0 ppg, respectively. Despite their 2-6 record, UNLV's average margin of loss is just three points. They are hitting 39 percent from the field, 29 percent from three and 72 percent from the charity stripe.
