Results
LAS VEGAS-- LMU men's tennis wrapped up a two-game trip to Las Vegas, Nev. in a strange fashion. A controversial referee's decision decided the final singles contest which allowed UNLV to win the match 4-3.
The match was tied at three points apiece as Alex Wilton and Rene Ruegamer battled on court one. Their contest went into a tiebreaker where a match referee ruled against Wilton giving Ruegamer and the Rebels the match.
The Lions fared well in singles competition winning three matches. Nicholas Bjerke defeated Tamas Batyi on court two 6-1, 6-3. Freshman Felix Vann Kann made a come back to get his second singles victory of the season beating Johannes Markel 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Brian Kenyon fell to Sebastian Bustamante, 6-3, 7-6, gaining another point for LMU.
In other singles competition, UNLV's Alex Bull defeated Todd Volmari 6-3, 6-3. Daniel Simko fell to Willie Sublette 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
The team of Bustamante and Van Kann shutout Sublette and Batyi, 8-0. Bull/Ruegamer beat Bjerke/Volmari 8-4. Simko/Northcott fell to Kenyon/Schoeman, 8-4, giving the Rebels a doubles point.
The Lions are back in action Friday, Feb. 10 at WCC rival Saint Mary's at 3:30 p.m. PT.
