LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Kimberly Benedetti, Casey Flacks and Erin Manke from the LMU women's water polo team have been named to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches 2011 All-American Teams, released by the ACWPC on Wednesday, July 19. It is the third consecutive season the Lions have had at least three members of the All-American teams.
Benedetti, who finished her junior season as the Western Water Polo Association Player of the Year, was named third-team All-American while Flacks and Manke were named honorable mention.
Flacks, who also wrapped up her junior season in 2011, becomes the third Lion in program history to earn three All-American honors. She joins Teresa Guidi (2001, 02, 03) and Stacia Peterson (2004, 05, 07). This was Benedetti's second straight All-American honor, earning honorable mention a year ago.
Benedetti led the Lions with 64 goals on the season and added 90 kickouts drawn. Flacks continued to be the leader for the Lions, scoring 38 goals with 30 assists, 65 kickouts drawn and 54 steals. Manke was second on the team in goals with 56, adding a program record 56 assists and 52 steals.
Flacks and Manke are ranked second and third, respectively, all-time in assists. Flacks has 95 career assists entering her senior year in 2012 while Manke has 93 in her two seasons at LMU. She will be a junior in 2012. They are also ranked 15th and 16th in goals, scoring 92 and 90, respectively.
As for Benedetti, she will enter her senior season ranked sixth all-time in goals with 159 in her career. She is also ranked fourth in kickouts drawn with 168 her career, 10 behind Flacks, who is third.
