LOS ANGELES - For the second time this season, LMU senior second baseman Amy Charpentier and sophomore pitcher Dana Waldusky have swept the Pacific Coast Softball Conference Coastal Division weekly honors, as they both were recognized for their play from March 21-27. Charpentier earned the Player of the Week award and Waldusky was named Pitcher of the Week, replicating the achievement that each had accomplished when they also swept the weekly honors on February 23.
Charpentier (Bakersfield, Calif.) had an explosive week at the plate, hitting .600 (3-for-5) and reaching base in five of her seven plate appearances In helping LMU to wins in both of its games. On Tuesday against Ohio State, Charpentier posted her first career two-homer game, leading off the fifth inning with a solo shot that broke a 2-2 tie and then capping LMU's 8-2 win with a two-run homer in the sixth inning. The next day, she went 1-for-2 with a two-run single and two runs scored to help the Lions to their fifth straight victory over Canisius. On the season, Charpentier is hitting .284 with two home runs and 11 RBI.
Waldusky (Glendora, Calif.) carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning and settled for a one-hitter in a complete-game win over Canisius on Tuesday. Waldusky walked one and hit two batters but struck out four in the win, allowing only a leadoff bloop single in the fifth for her fourth complete game of the season. Waldusky is 4-5 on the year with a 3.23 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 60.2 innings pitched.
LMU (13-16) concludes its non-conference schedule with six games in the next week.
