Los Angeles, CA - After a top-three finish at the Stanford Invitational this past weekend the LMU women's Cross Country team received their highest ranking ever, 8th in the west region. After beating out tough competition UC Irvine, UC Davis, Sacramento State and USC at the Stanford Invitational all who were previously ranked ahead of the Lions, the women proved that they were worthy of recognition and were moved from 15th overall in the west ranking to 8th. This is the highest ranking in LMU program history, as their highest previous ranking was 11th in 2008.

The women, led by freshman Sheree Shea, have a strong top seven including Junior Cynthia Chaidez, Senior Brooke Lademan, Sophomores Cassandra Salazar, Brieanna Delaney, Megan Fairley and freshman Caroline Draper. Already early in the season they have continually showed improvement and talent. The women have set high goals for this season, looking to win their first ever WCC Conference Championships and a top ten finish at west Regionals championship.

Looking ahead the Lion's will take a break from competition till October 17th when they will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas for the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival. The lady Lions will then look to the WCC Conference Championships in Belmont, CA on October 31st and then travel to Eugene, Oregon for Regionals on November 14th.
