La Jolla, CA -- For the second time in three games, junior Anne Scott scored four goals, including the final goal of the game, to lift No. 11 LMU to a come-from-behind 11-9 win over UC San Diego in Western Water Polo Association action on Thursday night in La Jolla, Calif. The win improves the Lions to 21-7 overall and a perfect 10-0 against WWPA foes.

The Lions found themselves down 4-1 after the first period against No. 20 UC San Diego. Scott was the only Lion to score in the period as she tied it at 1-1 with 5:22 to play.

It didn't take long for the lead to disappear as the Lions scored the second period's first three goals, tying it at 4-4 when Casey Flacks scored with 5:13 to play in the first half. UCSD, however, regained the lead with two straight at 6-4. LMU got a huge goal at the end of the first half from Diana Romero, who put one in the back of the net with just 25 seconds to play.

Senior Nicole Hughes, who holds all scoring records for the Lions including her 101 goals on the season entering the game, finally scored her first of the game to start the second half, tying the score at 6-6 with 6:47 to play.

UCSD answered again but LMU finally took their first lead on back-to-back goals. The first came from Mary Ann Campos with 4:20 to play in the third quarter and then Scott gave LMU an 8-7 lead with her goal at the 3:17 mark.

The Tritons then scored the final goal of the third quarter and the first of the fourth to take a 9-8 lead with 6:22 to play. That would be the end of the scoring by UCSD as LMU would take over.

Hughes scored her second to tie the game with 4:32 to play. Then Kimberly Benedetti scored what would be the game winner with 3:06 to play to give LMU the 10-9 lead. Scott added one more insurance goal with 1:31 to play for the final margin.

The Lions will play their final regular season game on Friday, April 17 when they host UC Santa Barbara on Senior Day at 3:00 p.m.
