Pagano Wraps Up Final PCSC Weekly Award

May 3, 2005

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Freshman Tiffany Pagano was named the PCSC Pitcher of the Week for the second week in a row, and the third time this season, the conference office announced today. She did not allow a run in 11.2 innings of work, picking up a crucial save in LMU's PCSC title-clinching victory, and following it up with her eighth shutout of the season.

Overall, Pagano was 1-0 with a save- her conference-leading third of the season. After LMU took a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh against Sacramento State in game one of the series, Pagano came in to pitch a scoreless seventh to preserve the lead and clinch LMU's first NCAA Tournament berth. Approximately 30 minutes later, Pagano pitched her eighth shutout of the season, allowing just four hits and one walk, striking out four in the victory.

On Sunday, she pitched 3.2 scoreless innings in relief, keeping the series finale close after the Lions made it a one run game. She allowed just one hit, striking out three.

It is the second straight week that Pagano has won the Pitcher of the Week award, and the third time this season.

Pagano has had a spectacular freshman campaign. She is 14-6 with a 1.47 ERA. She leads the team in strikeouts (105) and innings pitched (147.2), complete games (14) and shutouts (8). Her ERA in conference play was even lower, 0.50, with a 7-1 record.

LMU will now await the NCAA Selection to find out where they will play their first NCAA Tournament game. The selection is on the afternoon of May 15th, and the first day of regional play is Friday, May 20th.
