Stanford, CA (Oct. 14) - The Loyola Marymount University men's water polo team dropped a 10-3 decision to fourth-ranked Stanford on Friday night. The Lions' record evens to 10-10 on the season as they head to the NorCal Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
Stanford scored the games first four goals and the Lions could not recover from yet another early deficit. It is the third straight setback for the Lions, who have fallen behind in each of the three games. Endre Rex-Kiss, Ben Easton and Matt Reynolds each scored for the Lions.
Down 4-0, Easton scored with just 15 seconds remaining in the first half on a 6-on-5 attack. LMU went 1-for-9 on the extra-man attack for the game. Stanford stretch their lead to 7-1 before Rex-Kiss scored with 2:12 remaining in the third quarter.
Reynolds cut the score to 7-3 with 5:38 left in the game before Stanford closed the scoring. LMU will face eighth-ranked Long Beach State in the first game of the NorCal Invitational hosted by Cal. The Lions will play at 11:30 a.m.
