STOCKTON, CALIF. - The 7th-ranked Loyola Marymount University (LMU) women's water polo team defeated the Pacific Tigers 4-2 on Sunday dispite the Tigers playing one of their best games of the season. The loss drops Pacific to 3-13 on
the season, while the Lions improve to 17-5.
After a scoreless first period, Pacific fell behind 1-0 on a goal
from the Lions Lucy Windes with 5:15 remaining in the first half.
Just over a minute later the Tigers responded with a goal of their
own as senior Hilary Graves sailed a shot through
the right side.
In the third period the Tigers had their only defensive lapse of the
game as LMU scored two goals on back-to-back possessions to take a 3-
1 lead with 3:45 remaining in the game.
In the final period, Pacific clawed within one at 3-2 on a goal from
freshman Lyndsay McNamee. McNamee grabbed the
rebound from a shot thrown by sophomore Jessica Schroeder then tossed in the Tigers second goal of the game.
Unfortunately for Pacific the Lions would put the game away with 1:31
remaining as Julia Wald put LMU up 4-2.
The Lions next travel to Long Beach State on Thursday for their last road game of the regular season to face the 49ers.
