The Lions took first place at the CMS Invitational in early December. They were led by Krista Zabor, who took first place in every event she was entered in. LMU's relay teams were also too hot to handle as they placed first in the 200 yard freestyle relay (Alana Austin, Jessica Connor, Lauren Powers and Tiffany Yates), the 400 yard medley relay (Austin, Zabor, Powers and Yates) and the 400 yard freestyle relay (Breanne Melconian, Zabor, Powers and Yates).

LMU's women's swimming team will be home this week to host two dual meets. First, they host Nevada-Reno on Monday, Jan. 7 at 11:00 a.m. at the Burns Aquatics Complex. On Wednesday they will meet up with the CSUN Matadors for the second time this season at 2:00 p.m. at the Burns Aquatics Complex.
Zabor on Fire
Krista Zabor has been a spark for the Lions this season. With her consistent top finishes throughout the first part of the season, Zabor was unstopable at the CMS Winter Invitational. She placed first in every event she was entered in, including the 200 IM (2:13.59), the 400 IM (4:41.50) the 100 yard backstroke and the 200 yard backstroke (2:28.45). A sophomore native of Phoenix, AZ, Zabor is currently studying English with a minor in art at LMU.
This Week in Swimming
The Lions are set to host two dual meets this week, begining on Monday when they match-up against the University of Nevada at Reno at the Burns Aquatics Complex. The Wolf Pack Is coming off of a 1st-place finish at the UC Irvine Invitational. On Wednesday the Lions will face the CSUN Matadors at the Burns Aquatics Complex for their second match-up of the year. The Matadors defeated the Lions in their first meet of the season at CSUN by a score of 119-86. They had five swimmers set new Matador records in December of this season.
LMU Head Coach
John Loughran is the head coach of all three aquatics programs at LMU. His duties include men's and women's water polo as well as women's swimming. Loughran has spent most of his time as a swimming coach building a competitive swimming program with the Lions. He is assisted by Max Miyahara and Clay Evans for the programs. Loughran men's water polo team finished their 2001 season with the Western Water Polo Association Title, and a 3rd-place finish at the NCAA Final Four National Championships. He was named the WWPA Coach of the Year for his work with the Lions. His women's water polo team is getting set to defend their WWPA Championship when they take to the waters this spring.
