Los Angeles, CA., -- The West Coast Conference continues to acknowledge Loyola Marymount University's athletes for their performance, as Edit Pakay has been chosen as the WCC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Month for September.
As one of the newest additions to the team, Pakay has become the top finisher for the Lions in every race this year. At the Cal State Fullerton Jammin' Invitational, Pakay posted a time of 18:30, finishing the race 15th overall. This coming just days after arriving back in the US from China. Pakay ran in the USD Invitational the next weekend, where she posted a third-place finish with a time of 18:51.
She posted her best time of the season at the UC Riverside Invitational where she again placed third, finishing the course in 18:29. That finish is the best time posted by any WCC woman this season in the 5000 meter race. All three of her times place on the WCC top ten finishes so far this season.
The Lions return to racing this weekend at the Hometown 10K in Manhattan Beach, CA, after taking a weekend off from competition. That race is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m.
