In 2024, Haylee Nelson became the newest graduate assistant for the LMU women’s volleyball team. Nelson brings a wealth of playing experience and enthusiasm to the role, marking an exciting new chapter for the LMU volleyball program.
Nelson recently graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in adaptable kinesiology. During her time as a student-athlete, she excelled both academically and athletically, demonstrating exceptional skill and dedication. She was a key contributor to the volleyball team, earning All-Mountain West Conference Team honors for four consecutive years. Her leadership on and off the court, combined with her deep understanding of the game, makes her an ideal fit for this position.
Following her collegiate career, Nelson has spent the past two years playing professionally. Her international journey began in Italy, and she most recently played in Sweden.
In her new role with the Lions, Nelson will work closely with the coaching staff to enhance the team’s performance and development. Her fresh perspective and innovative approach are expected to bring valuable insights and energy to our program. Nelson is also committed to showing every Lion that there is a pathway to professional volleyball and continued playing careers after graduation.
“I’m super excited to be joining LMU and to rejoin Trent and Sarah, says Nelson. “I am grateful to the whole staff for believing in me and to be a part of what they are creating going into their second season as a staff and team. Happy to be a part of college volleyball again!”
