Brewer joins the Lions in 2020 following nine seasons at Hawaii Pacific where she led the Sharks to over 70 wins as the longest tenured head coach in program history. The fall 2020 season is Brewer's first with LMU.
“I am very excited to have Gina Brewer on staff here at LMU,” said Head Coach Jenny Bindon. “Gina brings a ton of experience to our program at LMU. We are so fortunate the stars have aligned to get her here from the Pacific to the sunny bluff. Gina's work with US Soccer as a Scout and Coach Educator and her desire to be part of a new soccer family at LMU is an amazing opportunity for us all.”
Brewer came to Hawaii Pacific after two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Hawai‘i-Manoa from 2008-10. She was an assistant at Utah State University from 2006-to-2007 and a graduate assistant at the University of Idaho from 2003-to-2005.
During her playing days, Brewer was part of a very successful program at the University of Washington from 1998-2001, where the Huskies won the 2000 Pac-10 Championship and went to the NCAA Tournament three times while she was there.
Originally from Seattle, Wash., Brewer holds a Master’s of Education in Physical Education and Health from Idaho, and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Communications from Washington.
“We share similar coaching philosophies as a staff,” added Bindon. “We want to instill elite, high-performance attitudes in these students that will have positive impacts on them for life, no matter what career path they choose. We want to welcome Gina to the program and look forward to the challenges we now face as we head into a year with a tank full of energy and enthusiasm to create lifelong Lions!”
Brewer is currently a US Soccer Coach Educator for the Grassroots, D, and C coaching licenses and is also a United States Soccer Youth National Team Scout. She currently holds her USSF “A” Coaching License.
