BRIEFLY... Kelvin Amayo wraps-up his collegiate career with his one season at LMU after earning an extension of eligibility from the NCAA, granting him a sixth year of basketball... earned his BA in Criminal Justice from Iona this summer and is in the Master's of Education program at LMU... posted a 3.85 in first semester in the program.

HIGHLIGHTS AT LMU...
IN 2016-17...SENIOR... Finished the regular season averaging 4.7 points and 3.8 rebounds in playing 27 of the 29 games... his 29 steals ranks ninth in the WCC (1.1 per game) and was part of the Lions' defensive rotation late in games, helping the Lions win four one-point games... posted a season-high 18 points against UCONN on Nov. 17 and had 17 off the bench against USD on Jan. 19... showing his versatility, he had 13 points and eight rebounds against Nevada (11/14/16), had four steals in the win over USF (2/23/17)... posted 13 games with at least two assists, including 12 (3.0 apg) the final four games of the season.

BEFORE LMU... Amayo, 24, played four games for Iona before suffering a season-ending as a junior at Iona in 2014-15. He had knee surgery prior to 2015-16, seeking a medical redshirt and a waiver to extend his eligibility, which he was granted. He started his college career at Marshall in January of 2012, playing in three games before electing to transfer to Iona. He sat out 2013-14 due to transfer rules..."Kelvin has dedicated himself to overcoming his hardships and with that experience will be in a position to lead by example," said Dunlap. "He has always been known as an incredible athlete and we have been really impressed with his work ethic."...In his final season as a scholastic athlete, he played for NIA School in Newark, NJ. He averaged 20 points, six rebounds, five assists and a couple of steals in leading NIA to a 26-7 record and a No. 6 national ranking among the country's prep schools. He was named a Newark Star-Ledger First-Team All-Prep selection for his efforts. He also attended St. Benedict's Prep and averaged 13 points, five assists and four rebounds in 2008-09. He had a triple double (15 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists) and was part of a team that finished the season No. 7 in the final USA Today Super 25 boys basketball rankings.

PERSONAL... Kelvin Nosa Amayo was born in Montreal, Canada, and is the son of Faith and Charles Amayo... has a younger sister... earned Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice at Iona and is working toward his Master's in Education at LMU.
