Mark Worthington joins the LMU Lions coaching staff for his first season as a Graduate Assistant. A long-time professional basketball player, Worthington brings 11 seasons of National Bas-ketball League (NBL) and Australian National Team experience to LMU. After playing for Mike Dunlap for four seasons at Metro State, and winning the NACB Division II Player of the Year Award in 2004-05, Worthington won NBL Rookie of the Year honors in his first season with the Sydney Kings. After playing 335 games in the NBL, Worthington announced his retirement in January of 2017.

Worthington was appointed head coach of QBL women’s side, the Cairns Dolphins, in February of 2016. After two seasons with the Dolphins he reunited with Dunlap on the LMU bench.

Internationally, Worthington made his debut for the Australian national team in 2005 at the FIBA Oceania Championship. He would continue to play for them at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, and four years later in London, as well as at the FIBA World Championship in 2006 and 2010.
