Was an Academic All-Big Ten selection in his three previous seasons at the University of Iowa...finished his junior season 2-4 with a 5.67 ERA...appeared in 11 games in 2000...struck out 26 batters and walked 27...pitched in 39.2 innings...started seven games on the season.

Graduated from Naperville North High School in Naperville, Ill., with a 3.0 grade point average...the three-year letterwinner played for coach Mark Lindo...his senior season earned him All-State honors in Illinois...was a two-year letterwinner in basketball and played quarterback as a freshman for the football team...helped both the basketball and baseball teams to back-to-back conference titles in DuPase Valley Conference in his junior and senior years.
