PREVIOUS COLLEGE 
Attended the University of Oregon in 2025. 

HIGH SCHOOL 
Graduated from JSerra Catholic High School in June 2024. Played right-handed pitcher and infield for four years under Head Coach Brett Kay in the Trinity League. Earned varsity letters all four years and served as team captain as a junior and senior. Named All-League/Conference all four years, All-City/All Area as a junior, All-State as a junior, All-CIF as a junior, and All-America as a junior. Won back-to-back CIF Division 1 Championships. Named to the All-CIF team and NHSI All-Tournament team. Played club baseball with Canes National and was selected to the USA National Team in 2022 and 2023. Completed community service hours through JSerra Catholic High School.

PERSONAL 
Matt was born in Moreno Valley, California and grew up in Laguna Niguel, California. He intends to major in Psychology. Parents are Stacey Champion, who played soccer at Dixie State (1995-1997) and Weber State (1997-1998), and Maurice Champion, who played football at Dixie State (1995-1997). Has two siblings, Travis (32) and Makayla (15). Travis played football at Hampton University (2011-2013) and Delta State (2013-2016).
